June is Great Outdoors Month, and if there’s one thing Wyoming has plenty of, it's outdoors, and it can be spectacular. Many are comfortable with getting out there with a tent and a sleeping bag, but some are not. Luckily, that is a curable condition.

A free learn to camp event called “Governor’s Campout” is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 2 overnight into 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Aspen Grove Trailhead in Curt Gowdy State Park

This adventure is for those with no to the minimal camping experience. If you’ve never gone camping, it can be daunting, to say the least.

The Governor’s Campout is for families with children aged 4 – 15 years of age, with up to 4 family members per tent.

Registration is required, and space is limited. Contact Ashley Rooney 307-777-6560 or ashlet.roonet@wyo.gov

In a separate but related adventure, Coleman is sponsoring Governor's Capital Campouts across the nation, including Tuesday, May 16 - in Cheyenne’s Lions Park, Gov. Matt Mead says they expect about 400 kids to be a part of this introduction to the great outdoors of Wyoming.

The Governor also suggests you can learn more at www.wyoparks.state.wy.us and http://www.wyomingtourism.org
