The Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board will hold it's annual slideshow on Sunday

The theme will be “Murder, Mayhem, and Growing Pains of Old Cheyenne" at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 in the Cottonwood Room at the Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Avenue.

The program was postponed from early May due to poor weather.

Noted Cheyenne historian Richard T. Ammon, a member of the Preservation Board and past Chairman, will tell stories about our city you’ve probably never heard before and present a slideshow of historic pictures, not seen in prior presentations. Learn of early day shootings, little known facts of famous characters who spent time in our city, and changes to Cheyenne through its first decades.

Who drove his car on the sidewalks of downtown Cheyenne and why? Hill, Ransom, and Dodge were major street names in the early city. What are these streets named today? A downtown street shootout was witnessed by a famous lawman and sports writer who later retold the story in a New York newspaper. Who was he?

Ammon was a presenter on the historic street trolley tours for years and is the author of the Cheyenne Historic Walking Tour currently used by the Downtown Development Authority and the city’s Visitor Bureau. The walking tour booklet will be available at the presentation at no cost.

The event is free to the public
