Gillette Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Trevor T. Trujillo, Townsquare Media

Thirty-four year old Gillette resident Arthur Mccuin was killed in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. 14 about 20 miles north of Moorcroft.

The Wyoming highway patrolĀ  says Mccuin was westbound on a 2007 Harley-Davidson and may have been having problems with his vision as he was only wearing his clear prescription glasses. His motorcycle began to drift into the oncoming lane of travel at which time he braked hard which caused the motorcycle to rotate counter clock-wise. The motorcycle went down on its left side sliding into the opposite lane of travel where it was struck by an eastbound Toyota Echo driven by 66 year old Donald Hunsecker of Maple Hill, Kansas.

Mccuin, who was not wearing a helmet, was totally ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound barrow ditch. He was declared dead at the scene. Hunsecker and his passenger, 67 year old Elizabeth Hunsecker, were not injured.

Mccuin had only purchased the motorcycle 3 days prior to the crash and did not have a motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license. Troopers believe the inexperience and vision limited from a foreign object in his eyes are contributing factors in this crash.
