There are many ways in which the state of Wyoming is unique. The Wyoming School Facilities Department is thankful for the funds it receives to build every year.  According to Bill Panos, Director of the Wyoming School Facilities Department, Wyoming is unique in that it funds 100% for the construction of schools in the Cowboy State, along with maintenance and operations.

A mineral based economy allows us to do that, instead of passing local bonds and other fund raising tools, as seen in other states in the Union. As of today, the state as "record levels" of funding to go toward the very aggressive school building projects throughout Wyoming.

The way this works is that the Legislature authorizes a certain amount of funds every year to the State Building and Commission, who intern send those funds to build public schools throughout the state. A few years ago, the SFD was putting out about $5 million dollars a month, but now that has been increased to about $30 million a month for building.
