Creighton University economist Ernie Goss is predicting continued growth for the state economy based on his October survey of purchasing managers.

Despite the overall positive outlook, Goss says there are continuing concerns about the energy industry. He also says despite the overall outlook, the economy isn't expected to create a lot of new jobs over the next three to six months. Goss says manufacturing and construction are doing quite well in the Cowboy state, while mining and companies that provide support for the mining industry are in many cases scaling back operations

Overall Wyoming scored a 55.8 on Goss's economic scale in October, up from 54.8 in September. Anything above 50 on Goss's scale predicts economic growth. The biggest weakness in Goss's survey of the state economy in October was employment, which received a score of only 49.6
