Goss Predicts Economic Growth

Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss says his February survey of purchasing managers in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado is predicting economic growth in the region despite concerns about the  impacts of sequestration cuts.

Goss says the region as a whole scored a 54.9 in February, while Wyoming scored a 59.4. Anything above a score of 50 on the scale predicts a growing a economy, and Goss says the regional outlook is considerably better than the forecast for the overall U.S. economy over the next few weeks.

Despite the overall optimism among purchasing managers in the region, however, Goss says 38 percent are concerned that sequestration budget cuts will have some sort of negative impact on their business. Goss, however, adds that he is personally doesn't think the cuts will have as much of a negative impact  as many people think.
