Governor’s Office Releases About 17,000 Pages of E-mails To Superintendent Cindy Hill

Governor Matt Mead
Amy Richards, Townsquare Media

Governor Matt Mead says his office has been working hard to comply with Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill’s public records request for certain e-mails between members of his staff and the Wyoming Department of Education.

Mead says it takes a lot of time to go through the e-mails and make sure they are not releasing information they are not legally allowed to. Mead says to date his office has released about 17,000 pages of e-mails,

17,000 pages of documents,  which is far less than 1/6 of the total request.

Hill had originally asked for all emails and letters from several employees in the Wyoming Department of Education and the governor’s office, saying she needed the documents to defend herself as she faces the prospect of impeachment from lawmakers who are investigating her.

In August the attorney representing Hill narrowed the request to several specific state employees and specific topics including: the departure of Wyoming Department of Education employees, Senate File 104, allegations regarding the handling of grants related to Fremont County School District 38 and the use of special education or other education department funds.
