71 years ago today, on August 11, 1946, the Wyoming Air National Guard was officially created.

Over the years, the 153rd Airlift Wing has flown in the Korean War, Vietnam, the invasion of Panama, the Gulf War and the War on Terror. The group also assisted humanity missions in Bosnia, El Salvador, Haiti, Indonesia, Kosovo, Serbia and Somalia.

Along with the thousands of men and women who have served, the Wyoming ANG has also housed some legendary aircraft including the F-51D Mustang, F-86L Sabre, C-119 Flying Boxcar, C-121 Constellation and the C-130 Hercules, which still proudly patrols the skies over Wyoming.
