Hill Concerned About Over-Testing

State Superintendent Cindy Hill

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill says she is concerned that tests designed to evaluate the academic progress of Wyoming students are getting out of hand. Hill says that while a certain number of such tests are helpful and necessary in the educational process, she is concerned that soon so much time will be spent by teachers preparing students for those tests that overall classroom instructi0n will begin to suffer, if it hasn’t already. She adds there is real concern that the federal government may mandate more such tests in the near future, adding ”I don’t think that’s the way to go” in improving education.
