The Federal Hockey League is a beer league with four teams including the Danville (Ill.) Dashers, who were playing the Danbury (Conn.) Whalers when moments after the puck dropped, Jesse Felton and Matt Puntureri squared off on the ice. The helmets came off and so did the gloves. The crowd felt the fight coming on as they faced each other gliding slowly across the ice.

Suddenly, the two lunged at each other but instead of punches, they hugged. Then Felton pulled a beer out of his shorts and the next thing you know, he’s suspended, from the game, the playoffs and possibly, for a lifetime.

So punching another player in the face is ok, but hugging him his not? The Commissioner said it was the beer on the ice. Beer on ice is a good thing in my book.
