The City of Cheyenne will hold a free household hazardous waste collection collection even on Sunday, August 17th at the Solid Waste Transfer Station on College Drive, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Reservations aren't needed to drop off items, and the event will be first-come, first-serve. Items that will be accepted include pesticide, motor oil, anti-freeze, solvents, oil-based paint and common household cleaners.

Items that will not be accepted by the city include e-waste (such as computers), appliances, latex paint or tires. But while the city will not accept latex paint, a company known as GreenSheen will accept latex paint at a cost of 30 cents per pound or $3 per gallon.

Residents who don't want to pay to dispose of latex paint can either open the can, let it dry hard and dispose of it in the regular trash, or dump cat litter into the paint can, let it dry and then put it in the regular trash.

Motorists will not be allowed out of their cars. Sanitation workers will instead unload waste from vehicles.
