Are you prepared for Cheyenne's winter?

We've already gotten a dose of what Mother Nature has in store for this winter, what things do you do around your place to get ready for all the cold weather?

I've been trying to prepare by fitting the mower into the shed along with the hoses and we've been trying to rake up leaves in between the snow storms.

The experts at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens made a list of End of Season Chores:

  • Put away hoses-at least get them out of the direct sun.
  • Put fuel preservative in gas lawn mowers and place a trash bag over the mower's engine.
  • Clean gutters-a leaf blower makes it less messy.
  • Clear debris away from your house to prevent mice.
  • Rake the last of the leaves.
  • Check around doors and windows for air leaks and seal with caulk.
  • Reverse the direction of your ceiling fans. In winter, set it in a clockwise rotation to push warm air near your ceilings down into living spaces.
  • Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide detector now that it's heating season.
  • Clean your chimney and check your fireplace damper to be sure it's closed
