How Often Does It Snow on Christmas Day in Cheyenne?

If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, you might get your wish this year.

Believe it or not, snowfall on Christmas day is relatively rare here in Cheyenne.

In fact, for the past 100 years, snowfall or precipation has only been recorded 20 times on December 25th.

According Weather Underground, Cheyenne's coldest Christmas was way back in 1876 when the temperature fell to -14.

The warmest Christmas day on record in Cheyenne was 2005, when the mercury reached 60 degrees.

Cheyenne's average high temperature on December 25 is 38, with an average low of 17.

And although we haven't had many white Christmases, we have seen a lot of snow in recent years.

In 2014, Cheyenne set a new Christmas day record with 6.8 inches of snow. Last year, we had another 5.8 inches of snow.

There's also chance we'll see several inches of snow this weekend, however, the worst of the winter storm will probably pass through Wyoming by Christmas morning.
