Have you noticed more bees than usual in the area this week?

It could be all the blossoms blooming or partly due to the crash of a semi truck on I-80 Wednesday near Laramie that released of millions of bees.

According to the Laramie Boomerang, a truck owned by Rushfeldt Farms out of Wisconsin was eastbound on Interstate 80 about 4 p.m. Wednesday when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The semi veered off the road and landed on it's passenger side.

The driver refused medical attention and was more concerned with recovering the bees, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Aren Peter. The truck's flatbed trailer contained beehives full of honey bees.

Many of the first on the scene and the tow truck driver suffered bee stings. Beekeepers from Albany and Carbon counties volunteered to assist the driver collect the beehives and bees. The driver was cited for failure to maintain a single lane of travel.
