After roughly 100 miles of roadway was closed for over 24 hours, the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Cheyenne were closed again Friday morning due to a combination of winter weather and requests from local authorities.

As of roughly 3 a.m., WYDOT estimated the westbound lanes would reopen between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The eastbound lanes remained open, though slick conditions, strong winds, snowfall and fog were present in the area of Rawlins, Elk Mountain and Arlington.

Meanwhile, U.S. 30/287 between I-80 and Rock River was closed due to a crash. As of 6:46 a.m., WYDOT estimated the roadway would reopen within five to seven hours.

A crash early Wednesday resulted in a spill of hazardous materials including hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and flammable materials. That closed the westbound lanes of I-80 between Rawlins and Laramie while crews worked to clean up the spill, despite inclement weather.
