The interim CEO of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center says the hospital should be able to hire a strong permanent CEO.

Margo Karsten says that's because the post should be highly attractive to qualified professionals based on a number of factors. She says the hospital is well-positioned in the community, adding the fact that the hospital is an independent facility with an active and committed Board of Directors makes it rather unusual. Karsten says CRMC also has a dedicated  and highly motivated staff of physicians and employees.

Karsten has been serving as interim CEO since September 1, when for hospital CEO John Lucas retired. The hospital recently hired the firm of Witt-Kieffer  to conduct a national search for a new hospital leader.

CRMC Board President Joe Evans has said he hopes to hire a new CEO within 5-6 months.
