Happy Festivus for the rest of us. Observed every year on December 23, the unofficial holiday was introduced in 1997 by the Seinfeld sitcom character Frank Costanza, played by Jerry Stiller.

The annual Festivus celebration is steeped in four traditions: The Festivus Pole, Festivus Dinner, the Airing of the Grievances and the Feats of Strength. Occasionally, the events themselves will result in what some refer to as a Festivus Miracle.

In 2011, the popularity of the secular holiday encouraged a promoter to stage the inaugural Festivus Games. The event has since grown from 70 contestants in one location to over 13,000 participants at various sites across the country.

In fact, there's even a Festivus Games event right here in Wyoming. On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Flaming Gorge Cross Fit in Rock Springs will host a "Feats of Strength" competition for contestants in a variety of categories based on skill level, age and gender.
