Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the chance for extreme thunderstorms and tornadoes across Wyoming. Just to give you an idea of how quickly the weather can change, the website iflscience.com published an article last spring featuring footage of a supercell thunderstorm developing over parts of northwestern Wyoming.

Although supercell storms and tornadoes can happen in any part of the state, they are more likely to occur in eastern Wyoming. This map from the Tornado Project details every tornado that has touched down in the state since 1950, including over 100 in Laramie County alone. 1990 was the most active year on record, when 15 tornadoes were spotted in the area, including 13 separate funnels between May 20th and May 24th.
