Jeff Gordon Becomes Third Winningest NASCAR Driver in History
Who's your favorite NASCAR driver?
Jeff Gordon, #24, won his 85th career race on Tuesday and moved into third place on the list of all-time most NASCAR wins.
Only David Pearson, with 105 wins, and Richard Petty, "The King" with 200 wins (my favorite driver), are now ahead of Gordon. With the win, he broke a three-way tie with Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip at 84 victories apiece.
Gordon battled Jimmy Johnson, #48, during the final ten laps of the rain-delayed Advocare 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway Tuesday. The race was scheduled for Sunday but was postponed by Tropical Storm Lee.
This was the third win this season for Jeff Gordon as he makes a run toward his fifth Sprint Cup title. The 12-driver Chase for the Cup begins after next week's race at Richmond, Virginia.
