From 1982 to 2002, the Denver Broncos held training camp at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. For many of those years, John Elway was a regular at a local watering hole called The Smiling Moose.

Located less than a mile from the team's practice facility, "The Moose" was a favorite hangout for Elway and his offensive lineman. And whenever #7 bellied up to the bar, the party was on.

One of the wildest nights Elway ever spend at The Smiling Moose came back in 1997, when the Broncos welcomed the Carolina Panthers to training camp. Elway had invited Panthers quarterback Kerry Collins to join him at the bar.

When he learned that Collins was late for a team meeting, Elway offered to drive him back to UNC on a golf cart. As Elway raced to the practice facility, he took a sharp turn and Collins was thrown from the cart. Luckily, Collins made his meeting on time, with a few scrapes and bruises to show for it.
