Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the Pershing/Converse/19th Street Roundabout will expand to two lanes as soon as some painting work is completed.

The mayor says that could be as soon as next week, assuming weather conditions allow the work to move forward. That will essentially complete construction work on the project, although some landscaping and cleanup work probably won't be finished until next spring.

Kaysen also says he thinks snow removal on the roundabout during the recent winter storm could have been better. He notes the contractor on the project, Simon Contractors, is still responsible for snow removal on the project at this point, adding snow removal "is not their forte".

But Kaysen says the city is working with the contractor to improve snow removal until the city takes over responsibility when the construction is finished.
