Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says city sales and use tax revenues are running about $360,000 ahead of forecast for fiscal year 2014.

He says sales tax revenues were projected at $6.9 million for the fiscal year, but the city has actually collected around $6.45 million. Kaysen says the increased revenues are good news not only because they improve the city's overall revenue picture, but because the increased collections show the local economy is also doing better then expected.

Fiscal year 2014 began on July 1, 2013 and runs through June 30, 2014. The latest numbers reflect collections through November of 2013.
