Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says it looks like the city budget for fiscal year 2014, and for that matter the next few years, will remain tight.

Kaysen says he has met with city department heads, as well as support agencies like the animal shelter and the city-county health department to get their funding requests for the new fiscal year which begins on July 1. Kaysen says now that the legislature has wrapped up for this year the city knows how much state money will be coming into city coffers. He says city officials are currently trying to predict how much money will come in from local revenue sources, such as sales and use taxes and building permits.
