You may not recognize the name but I'm sure you've seen or heard some of the characters that actor Kenneth Mars created over the years. He had a German accent in two of Mel Brook's funniest films. He was the Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind in The Producers and Police Inspector Kemp, who had the fake arm, in Young Frankenstein.

Mars died from pancreatic cancer on February 12th in Granada Hills, California at the age of 74.

In the comedy What's Up, Doc? Mars played Hugh Simon with a Croatian accent. He also appeared in numerous TV shows throughout his career. Younger audiences might remember him as the voice of King Triton in Disney's The Little Mermaid or as Grandpa Longneck on The Land Before Time. He even appeared in an episode of Hannah Montana as Gunther the Innkeeper.

Kenneth Mars and his eccentric characters will be missed.
