Over the weekend, we published a story on the KING-FM Facebook page about a recent proposal to raise the speed limit from 65 to 70 miles per hour on some Wyoming state highways. Just for fun, we asked our Facebook friends a bonus question, "What's the fastest speed you ever hit, and what were your driving?"

Here's a few of the replies we received:

  • Eric Van Veckhoven 163 mph on a KZ1100.
  • Josh Brown Don't know, the speedometer only showed 120 and I was pegged out and still accelerating.
  • Ellen Shafer 91 Chevy Beretta...not saying... LOL
  • Ann Robinson Lucas 2008 Mini Cooper. I can neither confirm nor deny that the speedometer can be pegged.
  • Jason Kutsulis 159 In a chevy caprice classic down I-80 one night. It was a retired fbi cruiser still had 1/4 of the petal left,  i got scared and slowed down.
  • Ernie Solis About 115 mph, I was in an IROC Camero on the highway up to Montana, some guy In a Thunderchicken got squawky and wanted to race, I happened to look over at the dude and his girl friend was hitting him with a magazine so I thought I better shut it down before someone gets killed, so I eased off and watched them drive into the sunset a'arguing hahahahah.
  • Linda Drumm 120 mph, maybe more, when I was 17, as a passenger with your Dad driving to the shore. With his '64 Chevy Impala Super Sport Convertible. 4 on the floor, mag Wheels, Hurst shifter. Now you look back and think how stupid was that?
  • Chris Moorhead I wrapped the speedo on my 83 Chevy and was still going speedo stopped at 80..then I've been 145 in a old Honda car can't remember what model
  • Bruce R Lehmann 183 mph. AA gas dragster 8.18 sec. In the 1/4 mile
  • Norm Kitten 110 in a 1964 Impala.

Thanks for the awesome answers. Needless to say, if you see a car on the highway and the driver is listening to KING-FM, it's probably not a good idea to challenge them to a race.
