Kozak Says Traffic Laws Not Money Makers

Cheyenne Police Cheif Brian Kozak says despite what many people think, city traffic laws are not written and enforced with the idea of making money for the city. Kozak says in fact that when everything is factored into traffic tickets--from paying for officers to enforce the laws to the collection of fines and court time for disputed cases--the city generally spends more than it collects from traffic offenses. Kozak says the purpose of traffic laws is to make city streets safer by reducing crashes and high-risk driving in public venues.
