Laramie, Wyo. is home to one of the best beers in the country. This weekend, Altitude Chophouse and Brewery won the Light Lager gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

Altitude Banquet was one of two Wyoming brews to strike gold at the annual "Super Bowl of Beer". Jackson's Snake River Brewing Company took first place in the Coffee Stout and Porter category with their Speargun Coffee Milk Stout for the second consecutive year.

2018 marks a return to the podium for the Laramie brewery. Altitude Tumblewheat won the 2016 gold medal for best American-Style Wheat Beer. In 2017, another Laramie brewery, Coal Creek Tap, won a bronze medal with their Heavy 80 Scottish-Style Ale.

Along with Altitude, Coal Creek, and Snake River, several other Wyoming brewers competed at the festival, including Cheyenne's Accomplice Brewing Company, Jackson's Melvin Brewing and Roadhouse Brewing Company, Saratoga's Snowy Mountain Brewery, Sheridan's Black Tooth Brewing, and the Thermopolis-based One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company.
