The heavy rains and extensive flooding in northern Colorado has resulted in calls for assistance by Wyoming Emergency Services.

Spokesman Lew Simpson says Laramie County Fire District #2 received a request from the Loveland Fire & Rescue to supply a Structural Fire Engine, a Type 6 Engine (Wildland fire type vehicle) and a Rescue vehicle. These vehicles and crews will depart Cheyenne late in the afternoon of Friday September 13th for Loveland for an undetermined amount of time.

The request comes after several days of unrelenting rain which has caused extensive flooding and damage and has resulted in Colorado emergency services including fire and rescue to be stretched to the breaking point. Loveland Fire & Rescue requested help from District #2 so that their own personnel can get some rest and take care of their own families and properties that are affected by the rains and floods.

Simpson says supplying equipment and crews to Colorado by Fire District #2 will not adversely affect the ability of District #2 to respond to local emergencies within Laramie County.
