An exit on Interstate 80 and a truck parking area located near the site of a Union Pacific Train derailment has reopened, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

Cleanup work on the crash site about 18 miles west of Cheyenne is continuing, but crews no longer need to use the truck parking area at Exit 345 as a staging area.

However, the I-80 service road between Exit 345 and Exit 342 (Harriman Road) remains closed and is expected to remain closed until at least Thursday, October 11.

The derailment, which happened around 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, claimed the life of two Union Pacific employees, is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
