A 34-year-old inmate at the Laramie County jail has been hospitalized after being found unresponsive, according to a spokeswoman for the Laramie County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's Department Captain Linda Gesell says Bret Anderson was unresponsive at 1 p.m. Thursday, as inmates were being let out of their cells for lunch.

Gesell says emergency responders from AMR and Cheyenne Fire and Rescue were called in and took over CPR from deputies on Anderson. The inmate survived and was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he remained at last report.

Gesell says Anderson was not under any type of watch at the jail.

He was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department in January for first degree sexual assault, family violence on a household member with strangulation, and child abuse.
