A Laramie woman was killed in a two vehicle crash Monday afternoon on I-80.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend said 56-year-old Debbie Murray-Griffith of Laramie was eastbound on I-80 Monday afternoon in the driving lane, when for reasons unkown Murray-Griffith attempted to make a left turn from the right lane onto a median crossover.

Korzun Tadeusz, who was in the passing lane, saw the vehicle turn in front of his tractor trailer combination and swerved left in an attempt to avoid a collision. The front of his tractor trailer impacted the drivers side of Murray-Griffith's vehicle. Murray-Griffith was declared dead at the scene.

Townsend said It is unclear why Murray-Griffith was attempting to use the median crossover when there was an interchange in the immediate area.
