During his days at the University of Wyoming, Larry Nance, Jr. was the "Mayor of Dunk City". This month, he will become the first former Poke to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Nance, Jr. was one of four players chosen for the contest on February 17th. If he wins, the high-flying Los Angeles Lakers forward would become the first second-generation dunk champion. His father, Larry Nance, Sr. was a three-time NBA All-Star and winner of the 1984 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Since being drafted, Nance, Jr. has routinely posterized opponents. Last season, he was a finalist for the NBA Dunk of the Year award. His rim-rocking dunks are a familiar sight for Wyoming fans. In 2015, he led the Cowboys to the Mountain West Championship and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2002.
