Anna at BLM is happy to hook you up with the America the Beautiful, National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass from the National Park Service. But the weekend is here and a deadline is looming. Sunday night, at 9:59 Mountain Time. the price for these passes for those 62 and over, will go up substantially, from $10 to $80. The pass is good for entry at any of the Park Service’s 2,000 recreational sites for the holder and four adults, or in many cases all the passengers.

There has been a rush on the passes and now it’s down to getting one either through U.S. Mail or the internet. A postmark by August 28 will be honored or an internet submission by deadline comes with a few caveats. One is it may take some time for them to get the passes out due to a back log that has jammed up the system recently.

While many offices are closed over the weekend, you can still purchase a pass online or at a federal recreation site. You can buy a pass online at www.usgs.gov/senior-pass.
