LCCC Hopes To Begin Building Project Soon

Laramie County Community College officials are hoping to move forward on construction of two new buildings on the college's Cheyenne Campus soon.

Spokeswoman Lisa Murphy says state lawmakers have approved spending $18 million in state money to go towards construction of a new student services center and a flex tech building.

Assuming the proposal isn't vetoed by Governor Matt Mead, Murphy funding, along with a $25-million bond issue approved by Laramie County voters in 2013, should allow the project to move ahead.

Since the $18 million is less than the $22 million in state money the college had asked for, officials are planning ways to work around the $4 million reduction from the original plan. Those plans include awarding corporate naming rights for the flex-tech building.

The college is also hoping to raise some private money and to cut some costs through changes in engineering plans for the buildings.
