What does Independence Day mean to you and a few did you knows?

Not just a day for hot dogs and beer, but a celebration of America's freedom. The freedom that quite often we take for granted. With the signing of the official draft of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, we charted our course for freedom in the new America.

In 1775, people in New England began fighting the British for their independence. On July 2, 1776, the Congress secretly voted for independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was first published two days later on July 4, 1776. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was on July 8, 1776.

Happy Birthday America and plenty to do with your families in and around Cheyenne today to celebrate our great nation in the greatest city in the country.
