Group Asks Court to Block Wyoming Campaign Contributions Law

The Wyoming Liberty Group is asking the federal court in Cheyenne to block the enforcement of a state law that prohibits minor party and independent candidates from accepting political contributions before the August 19th primary.

Liberty Group attorney Steve Klein said they filed the suit on behalf of Jennifer Young who is running for Secretary of State as the Constitution Party candidate and Don Wills who would like to contribute to Young's campaign now but cannot.

Klein said "the law is nothing more than censorship of minor party and independent candidates and those who want to support them."

Klein said the motion also asks the court to halt the enforcement of disparate contribution limits between major party candidates and minor party or independent candidates.The motion asks for the court to consider the matter quickly.
