The United States Marine Corps Reserves get a lot of credit, and rightfully so, for organizing the local Toys For Tots campaign.  But they're not the only hometown heroes who are helping needy kids.

This morning, I spoke with Retired Marines Sargent Rob Courtier, who told us how crucial local Navy veterans have been to the campaign here in Cheyenne.  Courtier has been a Toys For Tots volunteer for years.  However, with the limited number of Marine Reserves in our area, local veterans from the United States Navy have become a valuable partner in keeping the tradition alive.

We met several local Navy vets volunteering side by side with the USMC League Ed Herschler Detachment 772 this morning.  They'll be collecting donations during our entire three day broadcast, which runs through Saturday in the parking lot of #1 Properties on Del Range Boulevard.

If you stop by to donate a new, unwrapped toy for a needy child this holiday season, make sure to thank the brave Marines and the local Navy vets who continue to serve our country and community proudly.
