The President of Visit Cheyenne says the Cheyenne-area travel industry did exceptionally well this past summer.

Darren Rudloff says between May and August of 2013 11 percent more people visited the Depot Visitor Center compared to the same period in 2012. There were 8 percent more riders on the Cheyenne Summer Trolley, and a whopping 15 percent more people were counted at the Pine Bluffs Visitor Center this summer compared to last.

Rudloff says it's difficult to know why the local travel industry did so well this summer. Rudloff says the state travel industry in general did well this summer, but the local numbers were even better. He says one theory is that advertising designed to draw visitors to the Cheyenne area was more effectively targeted this year.
