Wyomingnews.com is reporting that Longmire author Craig Johnson thinks the show could return as early as Christmas.

Author Craig Johnson of Longmire fame says the Wyoming based crime drama could return to television as soon as the holidays. He will be in Cheyenne for a book signing at Barnes & Noble on Del Range this Wednesday. As you recall Longmire was abruptly cancelled by A&E cable network in August causing a "you know what storm" of rebellion from fans of the show.

The show centers on Walt Longmire, a Wyoming county sheriff who returns to work after his wife's death. Assisted by his friends and his daughter, Longmire investigates major crimes within his jurisdiction, while campaigning for re-election.

Johnson says the producers are pitching the show to various cable TV networks. Johnson concludes the interview with wyomingnews.com by saying "This would be a great present for the fans and and the state of Wyoming I think."
