The Police Academy movies were goofy and stupid, funny and about as far from the real thing as you can get. But if you think you’d like to go through the Citizens Police Academy, the Cheyenne Police Department is now accepting registration for their upcoming 10 week course starting February 4th and finishing April 8th.

Offering classes in crime scene investigation, criminal investigation, defensive tactics, firearms, constitutional law, traffic control, building searches and more, the classes provide an introduction into the world of law enforcement.

Only 30 people will be accepted. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, submit to a background investigation, be at least 18 years old and fill out a waiver of liability and must attend and participate in at least eight of the ten training sessions to graduate. Classes are held every Wednesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm MST. There will also be two Saturday class scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You can start the process at www.cheyennepd.org/cpa or call Officer Dan Long at 307-637-6583.
