Paul Revere, leader of sixties hit makers Paul Revere & the Raiders, died Saturday at his home in Idaho, at the age of 76.

Born Paul Revere Dick in Harvard, Nebraska, organist Revere and singer Mark Lindsay were featured performers on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand and the spin-off, Where the Action Is.

By 1967, Paul Revere & the Raiders became Columbia Records' top-selling rock band.  Their hits included "Hungry," "Indian Reservation," “Just Like Me,” "Him or Me -- What's It Gonna Be." and "Kicks,"

There songs were good enough for some heavies to cover. The Sex Pistols, David Bowie, The Who, Sammy Hagar, Joan Jett, and Pat Benatar all covered the Raiders' music, cementing their place in rock history.

Revere officially retired this past August and is survived by his wife, Sydney.  Thanks for part of the soundtrack to my youth Paul...
