Spring training is behind us and the boys of summer have taken the field. Six games opened the Major League baseball season on Thursday.

In the Big Apple the Yankees downed the Detroit Tigers 6-3, the Atlanta Braves shut out the Washington Nationals 2-zip, the Angels of L.A. double up Kansas City 4-2 and Cincinnati gets four runs in the bottom of the ninth for a come-back win over the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6.

Under the arch at Busch Stadium six Cardinal Hall of Famers greeted the current team at home plate, including 90-year-old Stan Musial, but that didn't help St. Louis, the San Diego Padres win 5-3.

In the late game at Dodger Stadium Los Angeles started their season with a win over the San Francisco Giants 2 to 1.

The Colorado Rockies begin their season at Coors Field with an afternoon game against Arizona starting at 1:10 pm Friday.
