The Natrona County Coroner's Office has identified the man who fell to his death on a work-over rig near Midwest on Thursday, according to a news release Friday afternoon.

He was Dennis McCulloch of Casper, according to a news release.

"McCulloch apparently fell to the ground while working on the rig from a significant height and died instantly," according to the news release. "Safety gear was in place at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy will be scheduled."

The Sheriff's Office was called to the site at 11:06 a.m. Thursday for a report of a traumatic injury, Natrona County Sheriff's Sgt. Aaron Shatto said Thursday.

McCullough was working for a company hired by Salt Creek Oil Field owner Fleur de Lis of Irving, Texas, said Justin Westmoreland, FDL's safety and health and environmental director. He was not an FDL employee, Westmoreland said.

FDL, Westmoreland said, is working is working with other agencies that are conducting their own independent investigations. They are Wyoming Workforce Services, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Natrona County Sheriff's Office.

Local government takes the lead on these kinds of investigations, he said.

"We're waiting for the sheriff's department to conclude their investigation before we conclude ours, Westmoreland said. "So unfortunately, there's not really anything we can comment on at this time."
