Local attorney and former prosecutor Leigh Anne Grant Manlove will officially announce her candidacy for Laramie County District Attorney on Saturday, March 24.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. in the Cottonwood Room at the Laramie County Library.

A Republican, Manlove is a fifth-generation Wyoming resident and the daughter of Wyoming attorney and retired District Court Judge Ed Grant.  She's been practicing law for 17 years.

Among her notable cases while in the DA's office are the child sex abuse case of former Cheyenne teacher Anna Andersen, the "cold case" homicide of Alice Uden and the domestic violence homicide of Ronald Zimmerman.

"My goal is to work with law enforcement to make Laramie County safe again," said Manlove. "Our community has seen an unprecedented number of homicides in the last three-plus-years. That's not what my husband and I want for our children or yours."

"It's time for a change, time to restore sound judgment, careful convictions and integrity to the office," she added.

Manlove is the first candidate to throw her hat in the ring for DA.  Incumbent Jeremiah Sandburg, who was elected in 2014, hasn't formally announced whether he will seek re-election.
