21 years ago today (February 25, 1993), Toy Caldwell, bassist for The Marshall Tucker Band, died in his sleep at his home on Lightwood Knot Road in Moore. The Coroner's Report said there was cocaine and a Vicodin-like substance in his system. Toy was 45 years old and had started the band with his brother, Tommy.

Tommy says they got the name The Marshall Tucker Band, from a blind old man that worked on pianos in their hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina, but another story says they got the name from a key fob found in their rehearsal space that seemingly once belonged to a man named Marshall Tucker.

Rest in peace, Toy Caldwell.
