Metallica got in filmgoers' faces with its 3D concert film extravaganza 'Through the Never' earlier this year, and in just a few weeks, they'll bring the movie right into fans' homes.

The band's Blackened Recordings imprint has announced plans to release 'Through the Never' on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, digitally and VOD formats on Jan. 28, in a variety of packages that will include a standard two-disc set on DVD, Blu-ray or 3D Blu-ray, as well as special expanded versions. Bonus features reportedly include behind-the-scenes footage, a feature-length 'Making of "Metallica Through the Never''' documentary, interviews with the cast and crew and previously unreleased Metallica content.

For the truly hardcore, the band is offering a limited 1,000-copy run exclusively to fan-club members, which will add an array of extra goodies to the movie, including a bandanna, a poster autographed by all four members of the group and a piece of the stage used during the making of the film. Pricing information was not included in the press release announcing 'Through the Never''s impending arrival on home video, but that limited edition certainly won't come cheap.

In other Metallica-related news, the band has also announced plans to return to San Francisco's AT&T Park on May 16, 2014, for the second-annual Metallica Night. As they put it in a press release announcing the event, "When the Giants take the field that night against the Miami Marlins, we'll be on hand to kick it off with the National Anthem and first pitch, joining the orange-and-black faithful for the rest of the evening for all kinds of Metalli-fun and games." Tickets go on sale Nov. 29 ('Orange and Black Friday') and buyers will also get "a limited-edition Metallica / Giants goodie that we’ll tell you about at a later date."
