A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 2:00 this afternoon.

Very windy and cold today with low 30s expected this afternoon. As far as snowfall, most of what we’ll get is already on the ground. It’s the blowing snow that will create problems on highways, overpasses, streets and parking lots. I almost landed on my butt between the parking lot and the front door.

We’ll get a few flurries with totals of 3 to 6 inches by the time its over.

With northwest winds 30 to 40 mph gusting to 50 mph, visibilities will be reduced to a half mile in snow and blowing snow.

Along with icy and snow packed roads, travel will be extremely difficult, especially along Interstate 80 from Cheyenne to Pine Bluffs. Things get significantly snowier if you’re heading south into Colorado, with I-25 and I-70 closures and chain laws in effect in some parts there.

Here in Wyoming:

I-25

Slick, strong winds and blowing snow and NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL on I-25 between Cheyenne and Chugwater,  then slick strong winds and blowing snow to Douglas, then dry into Casper, slick strong winds blowing snow and black ice on I-25 from Cheyenne south to the Colorado State Line.

I-80-IS BACK OPEN AFTER BEING CLOSED OVERNIGHT, No light or empty trailer travel

Slick with  strong winds, snow  and blowing snow on I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne, with strong winds, blowing and drifting snow slick conditions and limited visibility between Happy Jack and Buford, then slick with strong winds and snow blowing snow on I-80 from Cheyenne east to the Nebraska line.

Hwy 85

My snowblower will have to wait for when there's actually some work to do. Not today my friend, not today.
