After battling health issues for most of 2013, Morrissey has canceled the remaining dates on his North American tour. We were wondering when he'd get around to doing this. Dates have been postponed, rescheduled and canceled since January, when the singer ended up in the hospital. He's since been diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus and, most recently, double pneumonia.

After last weekend's cancellation of a show in San Francisco, hopes were high he'd be able to make Thursday's appearance at the Vive Latino Festival Mexico City. But when that gig was canceled, it was only a matter of time before Morrissey pulled the plug on the rest of the tour.

A total of 22 dates -- including stops in Chicago, Philadelphia and Austin -- are now canceled. Here's the official statement:

The remaining dates of the Morrissey U.S. North American tour have officially been pulled down due to medical reasons. The singer has suffered a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus and double pneumonia.

Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour. Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts. Refunds for the remaining shows are available at point of purchase.

Even with the laundry list of ailments affecting him, Morrissey still found time during his illness to wage war against Jimmy Kimmel, the Staples Center and Paul McCartney. Hopefully the time off to get some proper rest will put Morrissey back in fighting shape real soon.
