The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department with six other Emergency Response Agencies were dispatched to the site of a reported airplane crash early Tuesday morning at approximately Mile Marker 12 on Happy Jack Road.    The crash was reported about 7:19AM.  A small plane contracted by Laramie County for mosquito control crashed near the location of Happy Jack Road and Boundary Road, and approximately 1 mile to the north on Boundary Road.

Initial investigation indicted that the plane hit a power line and crashed into a field.  The pilot, 38 year old Michael Childress, of Nortonville, Kansas, was able to walk away from the crash with burns to his upper body.  He was life flighted to the Northern Colorado burn Center in Greeley for treatment.

The aircraft, a Cessna 188, owned by Circle S Aviation in Pine Bluffs, was a total loss due to the crash and fire.  No other structures or acreage were damaged by the crash other than the Power Lines.

Responding Agencies included Fire Districts 8 and 10, Warren Air Force Base Fire Department, the Wyoming Air National Guard Fire Department, and AMR.   The FAA was also contacted for follow up investigation.
