The Wyoming Highway Patrol says an inattentive semi driver may be responsible for a collision on Interstate 80 that killed a South Dakota motorcyclist east of Rock Springs Tuesday evening.

The Patrol says 48-year-old Jody Dossett was headed west on I-80 about 37 miles east of Rock Springs, when a semi driven by 69-year-old Dulian Leszek of Illinois struck her from behind causing her to lose control of her motorcycle.

Dossett had a helmet with her, but was not wearing it at the time of the crash and died on scene.

Leszek was not injured and was cited for following too close. Potential additional charges are pending as the investigation is still ongoing.

The Patrol says rainy conditions and glare from the setting sun may have contributed to the collision. The crash is the 18th motorcycle fatality in Wyoming this year.
